As a reminder, security can be thought of in three phases, Deterrence, Denial, and Detection.

• ​Deterrence is an effort to make your home an unattractive target by making it look like you are home, even when your not.
• Denial consists of steps to make it harder to break in, such as dead-bolts, bars in sliding door tracks, and making sure all windows are closed and locked.
• Detection is to rapid detect an intrusion, sound a siren, contact authorities, and warn your family.

Our best customers are informed customers.  As such, we would like to take this opportunity to explain how alarm systems work.

• ​Our Security Systems consist of a main controller, keypad,  and assorted detection equipment
• The controller is essentially a computer that controls the system and the keypad acts like the keyboard for that computer.
• When you are going to leave the house, you arm the system and a countdown begins
• You then exit your home before the 60 second count ends and the alarm system is armed.
• Once armed the alarm system controller continually monitors all of the detection equipment for signs of intrusion.
• When you return home and open a door, an entry timer begins
• If you do not enter your disarm code in time, the alarm system goes into alarm and the siren sounds
• At the same time you security system is contacting our alarm monitoring center where a central station worker will receive the alarm information including the type of alarm
• The central station will attempt to verify the alarm by calling the people that you put on your alarm verification list.
• If they contact you and it was just a false alarm, they will ask you for your password in order to cancel the dispatch.
• If they can't reach any of the verification contacts, they will go ahead and dispatch the police.
• Most false alarms are the result of one of three causes:
1. Person entering or leaving home was not familiar with the alarm and didn't know password
2. Homeowners were not reachable by phone when the alarm went off
3. Alarm triggered by a pet, thunder, lightning, or burglar alarm malfunction.
